Very simply, experience has pointed up the many advantages of manager selection over a single manager approach. Having identified individual specialist managers with superior risk and return profiles, we pool their strengths in order to optimise risk considerations relative to the selected benchmark.

Again, our experience tells us specialist managers usually generate better risk-adjusted returns than generalists. Investing with specialists earns a 'specialisation premium', or creates an edge. Combining specialists in efficient combinations reduces overall risk compared to the benchmark.
